Rafael Devers just told me that he was asked to not do interviews pregame because one of the #Yankees who went to the All-Star Game tested positive. Devers said that he is going to undergo testing this afternoon.

It's kind of amazing how they just went and had an All-Star break and All-Star game without really giving this a second thought, though of course, that is where the country is. But since the start of this we've heard that transmission from one team to another was unlikely. That changes when guys from 15 teams form a new one. I would hope that in assembling multiple groups of players from multiple teams (including futures, derby, etc.) and cities and then sending them back out into the world they were following more stringent protocols, but who knows? I sure as heck wouldn't have wanted to hang out at the hotel with JT or Zach this week.

didnt see any protocols. Definitely no distancing. I barely saw any masks and none on players.

The three other Yankees position players who are in COVID-19 protocol are Aaron Judge, Kyle Higashioka, and Gio Urshela. Because Judge was at the All-Star Game with other players, this has triggered contact tracing questions for the Red Sox players (and presumably others).

Not a huge deal outdoors/in the dugout I don't think, but more so in the clubhouse and hotels and restaurants. I wonder if the two All-Star team rosters were over 85%, though I'm not sure they should have used that same standard for this particular event.

So is this just going to be an AL team outbreak?

Luckily, all the Phillies players have received the vaccine. Oh, wait. They haven't.

Seriously, watching the news just this evening gave me a feeling that reminded me of March 2020. Things are not going well as COVID cases are up in a majority of states and vaccinations seem to have slowed to a crawl.

The field has been cleared and some fans are running out the left field concourse toward the exit after what sounded like several gun shots shortly after the top of the 6th ended. Don't know for sure that's what it was, but it certainly sounded like it.

A shooting has been reported outside of the Third Base Gate at Nationals Park.

Fans are encouraged to exit the ballpark via the CF and RF gates at this time.

We're working with law enforcement to provide more information as soon as it becomes available.

I don't know - but it's possible they've detained the shooter. More than likely, this is just another case of somebody settling a stupid, petty dispute in the stupidest possible way.

Appears the danger is over. Helicopter footage shows someone being loaded into an ambulance. Situation is now considered an investigation

I feel like people now interpret the term "active shooter" to mean a mass shooting or random gunman when often it just means someone fired a weapon and has not been apprehended/remains at-large.

Two additional victims associated with this incident walked into area hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds. MPD is on scene and actively investigating at this time.
