By "none of those players" I meant the players Zolecki wrote about, and no one else. There were four names, see above. Of course the controllable players won't be traded in August. But most teams can't afford to claim Kendrick or Benoit, even for blocking purposes (nor are they actually so good that it would be worth the claim. You only get one claim a day, right?) Prorated or not, Kendrick is a $10 million bench player and at $7.5 million Benoit is overpaid relative to his performance.
As I said Nava might get claimed or blocked.
I don't believe Galvis or Rupp are on the market, even if "everyone is available." If either of them were actually as good as Giles, you'd have a tougher decison - because OTOH they would be worth keeping and OTOH they'd have more trade value. Galvis might be attractive to someone as a bench guy (defense and pop and versatility is a nice combo for a playoff team), but what would they give up for that? Nobody wants Rupp, there's are just too many more available catchers out there.
They are hoping to move Joseph obviously. If they thought Crawford, Alfaro and Kingery were ready maybe they'd be more inclined to try moving the other guys.
I'm in favor of trading Galvis, I could care less of Andres Blanco plays shortstop for the rest of the season, but I don't think the Phillies feel that way.
We'll see. The best reason for there to have not been a trade yet is if they are actually working on a few things that aren't as simple as just moving Neshek.
