Of course, you make good points as well. O.J. has not been booted from any of the halls of fame he is in and Bill Conlin is still in Cooperstown's writers wing. Had this come out twelve days after Rose was honored, the Phillies would probably politely declined requests to rescind the honor. But, this is before the honor was handed out. And, the Bill Cosby case saw numerous institutions rescind honors they had granted him.
The Phillies are basically left with a Joe Paterno statue situation. There are intense feelings on either side. But, I get the sense that going through with it would probably be more costly than canceling it and so I would bet they probably call it off. They are darned if they cancel it but probably even more darned if they don't.
It is interesting to note, however, that as of now, Rose still has a job with Fox Sports. Usually, media companies drop on-air talent at the first whiff of salaciousness.
