Early game today!
I hope Hernández can pick up where he left off before his injury, and that Williams keeps hitting the way he has been. Someone said it elsewhere on this board -- an OF of Williams-Herrera-Altherr sounds good to me!
Phils put up a two-spot in the top of the first! After a half-inning:
Well you gotta admit, Stanton is making his case for the trade, isn't he?
Nick Williams does keep hitting as his first inning triple was a key to both runs. Stanton keeps schooling Phillies pitchers with another HR in the bottom of the 1st. 2-1 Phils as we start the top of the 3rd.
Through three innings, it's 2-2, thanks to a walk (to Yelich in an 11-pitch plate appearance), a single, and two wild pitches by Nick Pivetta.
Marlins tie it up 2-2 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd - BB, single and 2 wild pitches.
Phils retake the lead in the top of the 4th. Cesar Hernandez single drives in Knapp who had singled with one out and was sacrificed to second by Pivetta. 3-2 Phils.
Yes, but the Phils outfielders aren't looking too bad either. Even Nava is 3 for 3!
Phils add a run in the top of the fifth to go up 4-2. Franco and Nava singled, and after moving up on a groundout, Franco scores on Knapp's sacrifice fly to CF.
Bases loaded, nobody out, Franco batting in the 6th.
2-run single by Nava makes it 6-2. Nava trade value is soaring upwards as he goes 4-4.
Now 7-2 as Odubel squirts one by the third baseman to drive in another run.
Do you think the Phils would be willing to trade him for Stanton?
Yelich HR makes it 7-3. After getting one out in the 6th Pivetta is lifted in favor of Hoby Milner.
Talk about over managing. 2 outs in the 6th, four run lead and he pulls Milner for Pinto !!!!
Hoby Milner allows two singles but picks one of them off first. With two outs in the sixth, Pete goes to the bullpen again - Ricardo Pinto.
Galvis makes a diving catch of a line drive to end the 6th; Phils up 7-3.
Wow, Williams is quick !!!!
Well at least Pete allowed Pinto to pitch the next inning.
