According to players in the postgame the play was to iso Embiid at the top of the key extended and let him try to win the game. That is just stupid play design.
I am, right now, disenchanted with BBrown. Half of the Okafor/Noel "can't play together" problem is his because of lack of offensive creativity when both were on the floor. They stink both offensively and defensively with set plays. They barely manage to get the ball in from the sideline hash about 1/3 of the time. They never seem to score off of baseline OB or coming out of a time-out from wherever they have the ball. Larry Brown was not a great coach, but he managed to score on set plays about 3 or 4 times each game.
I think BBrown can develop players and get them to be relatively happy playing in a non-ideal situation, but he doesn't handle lineup pairings well, he doesn't run very good set plays, his defense (allegedly his specialty) has been sub-par over the last year+, and he seems confused/clueless in end-game situations.
I like the guy's personality, but he needs to step up his game as a coach.
