Cooper treated Kucherov no differently than Tocchet has treated Michkov.
Kucherov accepted that it was his fault:
Many of the seeds for his rapid ascent were planted here, in Montreal, where Kucherov chose to spend last summer along with a handful of other Lightning prospects. They trained with Mark Lambert, the team’s strength and conditioning coach, and it was during those sessions Kucherov decided to take a different approach to the game.
“I worked hard,” he said.
If Michkov doesn't get the message that he has to take responsibility for his career, and not expect to be coddled, odds are he'll never be more than an offense first 2RW who's a liability on defense. in that case, he's expendable.
Michkov is only slightly faster than Martone. Both needs to work on their straight line speed this summer.
Martone isn't as elusive, but he's a smoother skater than Michkov and has a bigger body he knows how to use.
Still needs to add 10-15 lbs of muscle the next couple seasons to be a true PF.
