Flyers smashed the Jets tonight 7-1, got Hellebuck benched. Couts with 2 goals and an assist. Given Columbus won, too, Flyers probably need 3 of the last 4 points to get into the playoffs as M3.

Or Columbus could lose or tie today and Flyers would clinch with a win tomorrow. That would take out the Isles and Caps too I believe (Isles also out with a loss today).

Last two games are at home, CAR and MTL are tough teams, but we have our fate in our hands.

Canes still playing for top seed though they are likely to get it. Habs in a fight for all kinds of seeding stuff. Islanders play both of those teams too. It's unfortunate to have two-in-two when there are still NHL games on Wed and Thursday. NBA play-in game is Tuesday but Sixers don't currently have home court. If they wound up 7th seed NBA game would have to change dates I assume.

So 2/3 games today went the Flyers way. Caps won in regulation which puts them at 93 pts with 1 game remaining. Isles lost in regulation which eliminates them, and Blue Jacks also lost in regulation which leaves them at 92 pts with 1 game remaining. Blue and Caps both have more RW wins than the Flyers. Blue and Caps last game is tues against each other. If Blue wins in regulation then flyers would need just 1 point in their final 2 games. If Caps win in regulation then flyers would need 2 pts in their final 2 games

Canes sitting several of their top players, and as a result…they lead the Flyers 2-0 after 1st period

Flyers had a lot of pressure early on and Canes come down and scored on their 1st shot. Later added a PP goal

Even though we split with the Penguins, I suppose they have the other tiebreakers against the Flyers if they both end up with 98 points.

Flyers lose there tiebreaker based on regulation wins.

Yeah head-to-head is only the 5th tiebreaker. Pens take three of the first four (points percentage, regulation wins, non shootout-wins. Flyers have more total wins).

I don't think they would have won a tie with anyone for anything (Metro slot, WC slot, home ice).

Not sure there would have been many people who would have predicted this team would almost get to 100 points.

Would love to see them put up a fight in the post season but Tocchet did a good job in his first year and they are set up well to keep improving.

It's also weird that they did that while having the worst PP in the league and not being great on the PP.
