I couldn’t believe this when I heard the news. Well at least torts isn’t messing around with a rebuilding team

Flyers beat the Stars in OT 2-1 and are now tied with the Red Wings, Senators and two points behind the Blue Jackets with a game in hand. Martone is coming and Foerster might even return. Ersson is hot (5-0 since the Olympic break, and Vladar is still solid. I hope they can get into the playoffs, they could be a dangerous out.

Ersson’s play has been phenomenal. He’s become what many wanted him to be for a while.

I don't know if Errson has become what you said, he's been good before. I guess the best way to sum him up is he is streaky.

Flyers lose a tough game tonight in regulation. Fell behind 2-0 before tying it, then 4-2 before getting 1 back to make it 4-3 before Wash increased to 5-3, then flyers get 1 to make it 5-4 before wash gets an EN. Vladar didn’t have a great game but wasn’t terrible. Wash is still a good team and they were simply the better team tonight. Flyers margin for error is now razor thin and may need to win all remaining or at the very least win 7/8

Ottawa, Detroit and Columbus all lost too. Flyers also have a game in hand on Columbus and two on NYI. The nice part of fighting for the bottom not the top. Schedule is not forgiving but they kind of control their own destiny, and even if they lose a few more the other teams might too. Just can't lose to Detroit or the Islanders.

The Islanders, Senators, Blue Jackets and Red Wings all lost last night, a Flyers win later today will put them in playoff position.

Gonna be a tough one today but I think the third spot in the Metro is there for the taking. Two games in hand on Islanders, none on Ottawa or Detroit. The are catching up with them on regulation wins though! Real shame they lost on Thursday but the two straight losses didn't sink them after all.

Columbus has not been playing well, they could catch them if they don’t catch the Isles (or even if they do). It’s really 5, maybe 6 teams scrambling for 3 spots. If they play like they did Friday the other stuff will take care of itself.

They have already de facto passed Columbus with the game in hand/higher WP, and would probably also win a tie-breaker with them (unlike the Isles, particularly, or the Red Wings).

He's a great coach but who knows what that will do. They could go 4-0 or lose their next two games just from the adjustment (and sense of panic).

Bruins penalized for throwing a stick from the bench to McAvoy, who'd just broken his. Boucher says he's never seen it before. Bruins player says he didn't know it was illegal. WE talked about this awhile back from, what was it, a Michigan State game?

Of course the bad news is that puts the Flyers on the PP. They have so many more options now (with Martone and Foerster) but no improvement.

The argument from the Bruins were that they did not throw a stick to a player... that they threw it on the ice. They are technically correct.

I understand the penalty on Michkov and the bad blood afterwards from the shot after the whistle... the only problem is that I did not hear a whistle until after he sent the puck (maybe it was missed on the broadcast).

EDIT: 605(b) covers that this is definitely illegal. The casebook examples come up a little short, though.
