I have more positive vibes about this draft than last year’s draft and for that I am very happy. I hope sign a few of our HS picks. I can’t remember a pick I was truly excited about last year, but this year there are a good handful at least.

I just don't see Marsh as a CF, especially with Castellanos in RF.

I have seen a lot of people say Crawford is not likely to be any better than Marsh in CF once he is at the MLB level though. But we will eventually find out.

I like the draft, but for some reason I’m hung up.on Ferrara to decide if I Really like this draft. Not highly ranked but he seems pretty smooth at short and takes some big swings- if he turns into a pro shortstop that can hit a bit, with all the pitching picked in front of him that should do well in pro ball, this would make me happy. Otherwise a draft without any hitting prospects would feel a bit hollow.

It’s certainly going to put to the test our belief that they are better at developing pitching.

Wanted to echo this. My immediate visceral reaction is to feel better about this year's draft than last years.

It was not fun waiting around for two, three hours, but I’m happy with how it turned out.”

I was always assuming Fisher and Ferrara would sign as top 10 picks. The other 2 HS picks are much less certain. Dawson has a good chance of signing though it might be piecing together small savings in the later 6-10 non-Fisher picks).. Schaefer probably only a hedge against Fisher not signing.

The best thing for the Phillies would be to get Fisher done quickly (and possibly the top 2 picks for their potential savings. Wood does not feel like a dramatically underslot pick, but even a little bit might help.

I am not sure I would downplay the Nori-Burkholder comparison so much. One could actually say that Wood is a relatively high floor first round pick even if the risk in his long term value is not low ceiling like Nori. His risk is as much health. And Fisher is actually a good pitching comp for Burkholder as an athletic guy with good raw tools that is just going to need time to develop.

I noticed the small school trend too. Maybe the Otto Kemp experience is swaying them a bit, but it is really natural to hope their own scout sees something more in a small school kid who is less exposed to other scouts.

I think Wood is both high floor and high ceiling. If he stays healthy he is a MLB starter.

I’m really intrigued by Fisher both from scouting reports and looking at YouTube highlights.
