Four seniors in the top 10 after not having a second round pick is a bit triggering.
Yeah, I donât hate through the 8th round but I donât love it either. Really really hoping we have a deal with someone in the 11th.
Orion K. has a really obvious mechanical flaw with his left arm glove tuck which he somehow ends up all the way across his body instead of into his left side or chest. Fixing that should dramatically help his command.
From the Herald-Tribune on Orion Kerkering:â In his short bullpen session, he recorded the third-highest spin rate on his breaking ball at 2,985 and five of the top eight top spin rates.â
I have seen more than one video of him striking out lefties on sliders that hit their back foot.https://twitter.com/pitchingninja/status/1507512520092835845?s=21&t=tk3vTHQAw66yXHiwk8dLNw
We once had a lefty that could strike guys out on pitches that (nearly) hit them.
fish, look at where his glove ends up in those videos, down by his hips and across his body. That's got to be very difficult on his balance. If they teach him to tuck his glove higher, his balance and consistency will both improve.
As a contrast watch how consistent and tight Nola's glove truck is:
McFarlane in this game at the 9 minute mark- stuff like McGarryâŚas a reliever at least.
Yeah, I canât say Iâve ever seen that before- his delivery looks like itâs all about torque to get spin on the ball- I think any time spent trying to develop him as a starter is just accelerating him to surgery.
Rao at 1:12
That one pitched looked good.
I was thinking McFarlane is more of a 2-pitch pitcher like Seranthony. If he can build strength to get to consistent high-90s velocity there is some movement and a decent slider to pair it with. Mechanics are all over the place, though imagine he gets some movement from that torque so the question is how much to change him. Perhaps not too much if he is a reliever.
I wouldnât give you video of just one pitch! Advance to the next inning to see the second pitch! Lol

Prospects Live write-up of 13th round pick Cade Fergus on the Cape last summer. Athletic guy with swing/miss issues.
Cade Fergus didn't get as much playing time on the Cape as most of his cohorts, as swing and miss issues led to him splitting playing time at Wareham with Ohio State freshman outfielder Kade Kern. But in limited looks, Fergus was able to provide flashes of his impressive power and speed combo that have interested scouts since his prep days. This upcoming season is vital for him to show improvement in his strikeout rates, as he will still be under the age of 22 come draft day and could climb into top 5 round discussions. Profiles similarly to Michael A. Taylor or Drew Stubbs.
Lots of outfielders and catchers so far. Not really any infielders. Would love another projectable arm or two also before the run of college relievers.
