I think we need to prepare for Abel to be on a slower track than Hamels. He is a skinny kid that has lots of projection left. And he is mostly missing a key year of development since no matter what he does physically, he is not facing any batters. He also supposedly tailed off last summer (it might have just been too many innings on a 16-year-old), but he is really closer in experience to top Latin American prospects when they are 16.
I suspect they aim to start him in Williamsport next year if that level still exists. Then in 2022 give him the chance to have a 2-level year if he earns it.
Thoughts on where to rank him in our system? Clearly he is behind Bohm and Howard. I would probably put him behind Stott based on Stott's greater certainty of projection. Probably close to Morales. Higher ceiling but less accomplished. So 4 or 5 for me at the moment.
