Yes. This is why the Electoral College and the Senate are structural problems. These structural anachronisms (relics of compromises necessary to get slave states to ratify the Constitution) mean that, to be effective, Democrats need to persuade 55% or more of the electorate; Republicans need only persuade 45% or so.
Austinfan's apparently OK with a federal government in gridlock...which is to say, he's OK with a broken health care delivery system, with systemic neglect of aging infrastructure, with systematic voter suppression directed at minority populations, with the treatment of corporations not just as "persons," but as privileged "persons" whose preferences outweigh those of human beings, with inhuman treatment of refugees, with blind refusal to deal with fossil-fuel driven climate change that threatens the future of our civilization.
So... Biden wins the presidency, but Republicans hold the Senate. For two years, McConnell bottles up any serious efforts to address any pressing problems. Come 2022, the Republicans blame the Biden Administration... and the American electorate, misled by corporate media and social media disinformation campaigns, believes that it's somehow Biden's fault that McConnell blocked any sensible legislation.
Down the tubes we go.... and for the core Trumpists, the non-college educated white rural males, things will just continue to get worse. Probably the best they can hope for is easy access to opioids that will allow them to sink into mental, and then physical oblivion....because that's what they're voting for, although they're too...something... to realize it.
