So we're clear, I'm an independent myself. My thoughts and preferred approach to issues more often aligns with democratic ideologies, but I feel no sense of 'tribalism' or narrative-pushing with the left, per se.
That said, I think it dangerous to be playing with your vote over perceived message-sending here. We know that Trump and a at least a portion of republicans will be calling the election rigged should he lose. So the narrower a Biden victory in a state he's expected to carry, the more fuel you provide to any legal (and illegal) havoc they try to unleash. Things like, "how are we to believe Biden won Georgia when he barely won California??", etc. Political interest is just not going to reside with self-reflection over a slight bump in third-party votes this term.
Moreover, the stronger Biden shows the more momentum it gives his administration's second term. This might not be a compelling argument to those who lean right such as yourself, but I happen to think things like the bi-partisan bill on immigration reform was a much needed engagement from both sides in addressing the insufficient, frankly outdated, immigration practices in this country. Yet the measure was death-knelled by Trump in a move over political momentum.
There is the hope that another Biden victory would spark a movement on the right away from the irrationality and illegality that is Trump, but I'd settle for the passing of sensible, productive legislation. A more convincing win would help in this regard and is more beneficial to the country as a whole right now than is trying to send a message through protest third-party votes, IMO.
