It's still gonna be a big deal to "demote" Ranger and Painter really shouldn't be accelerated from that early July target. I don't think you panic or do anything drastic now, and it's moot until Nola comes off the IL. They survived the shaky parts of April to bounce back into the NL East race, and they can survive another swoon if there is one. More important that the bats keep going.
The current pen top to bottom even without Alvarado is probably still stronger than the '24 and '23 pens at the same time in those seasons (especially given Alvardo himself wasn't great last year, though that happened more later). It would just be nice if they can still develop another Bellatti/Hoffman/Ruiz (obviously Hoffman was the extreme success story) somehow.
