Ryan Cusick could be interesting (starter in first game 95-99 velocity). Former number one pick out of Wake Forest by the Braves that got traded to the A's after his first year. A's jumped him straight to AA and he has been awful ever since. Phillies signed him late last year.

Strange line for Ritchie: gives up 2 runs but no hits and 2 walks. I assume unearned runs.

It would be a fun staff to watch if Wood, obermueller, Bowker, Youngerman, Craig, Tolleson, Walters and Marquez start off together at Jersey Shore I would hope. That wouldn’t leave much for Clearwater though.

I was really hoping to see a little bump in velo from Fischer and Obermueller, and a Pacheco-like Latin starting pitcher. I guess we haven’t seen Bowker pitch yet.

Spring breakout game 1 today against Minnesota.

Lineup here. Nori and Escobar 1-2 in the lineup. Cabrera on the mound. With 2 games this will not be everyone and the second game is at home. Assume Miller is not ready yet but we could see Crawford in that game along with Painter and Wood on the mound.

3/18/26 : Spring Breakout Game One roster

Tait and Mendez both in the Twins lineup.

Campbell with a 2-run HR to give the Phillies the lead.

Luke Gabrysh was the second pitcher and he touched 97 but was not too effective.

Romeli Espinosa definitely looks 17. Hit a 97 mph fastball up the middle but he will need to put on some strength.

Fisher looked decent. Only 93 but mixed speeds and looked like he knew what he was doing in a scoreless inning.

Didn’t know Will Vierling is Matt’s cousin.

A good day for Vierling, but overall offense in the two games (only 1 run total -- on Vierling's HR) was bad.

We are not getting reports on the two away games (Phils used to provide summaries, but no longer I guess). Maybe they scored tons of runs in those games.

Maybe not...there are a lot of minor leaguers in camp right now, though, so they could have played I guess. I didn’t see the minor league spring schedule this year.
