The Phils fixed Alvarado once, and overall he has paid off for them. That, despite the fact that he is incredibly frustrating and inconsistent at times. It is hard to see them bringing him back - his lack of devotion to fitness probably illuminates why he has had issues at times as that usually dovetails with some lack of overall discipline as well.

Bullpen arms that can throw it 100 mph will always get picked up however, and some team will look to have him at the back end of their pen next year for a substantial cost.

We will definitely need to add a lefthander for the bullpen but we did add Killian to the full time mix at least. No word on his injury this season unfortunately. Obliques can take awhile to heal.

They fixed him once and the diet pills fixed him once but he's just too inconsistent/combustible. Comes with the stuff and part of the job description, especially in the playoffs where all but one or two relievers on one team eventually give up the crushing hit. But I don't think he'll be making more money for another team next year. That was a fair extension for both sides but also probably his financial peak, given his age, last two seasons and lack of closing opportunities (which some teams still value). He's probably looking at something more like Matt Strahm money now.

Add Stott to the list. 23 steals so far in 2026 without any caught stealing.

Marchan and Grant Holman are the new players added today. Other pitchers could probably rotate in that last spot. Obviously if Killian were healthy he would be first. Banks probably right behind him (not eligible till next Monday). Then Backhus and Lazar.

I guess it's good that Killian hasn't been moved to 60 at least (though it's not currently necessary). It would be great if Banks' season was really about health and he can be useful (and also tender-worthy).

If all five starting pitchers have it together the rest of the year, they've got both extra bullpen options and no worries about a 4th starter, when needed.
