Marchan started a rehab assignment last night. If I had to guess they timed this for him to be the extra bat in September so they can keep Stubbs as well. Rehab is 20 days for position players. Marchan could use the plate appearances as well.

Not the worst depth move though it is really hard to say what he is after his surgery. Sounds like it is as much for next year as this year.

I think it is more likely they just go back to 3 catchers,, but apparently Tommy Pham is hot.

Tommy Pham's last 20 games at Lehigh Valley have been quite good. I'm guessing he's staring at a September call-up if he keeps this up.
