BA’s latest mock had the Phillies with CA prep shortstop Archer Horn.
I hadn’t heard of him before, but he’s quite an impressive package- up to 95 off the mound, athletic, really nice left handed swing with pop- balanced and really seems to wait on the ball. He may have helium that puts him out of their reach though.
Just as interesting, they have Georgia Tech catcher Daniel Jackson (lots of homers, steals, and hard contact) going one pick before them.
In the second round they go with Arkansas RHP Gabe Gaeckle. I like the idea of a power arm at that spot but Gaeckle doesnt blow my hair back. They have HS catcher Will Brick on the board still at that spot- he looks like a pretty gifted catcher who’s hitting may depend on how much stronger he gets, but he’s got the build for it.
