Registration and licensing? You have to do that to own/operate a motor vehicle. People are willing to die to avoid that? Very few, IMHO.
Abandonment of swappable magazines? Magazine limits? That three-shell limit wasn't pulled out of the air - it's what the Pennsylvania Game Commission rules limit shotgun magazines to (or at least used to - I haven't perused them in a couple of decades). It's all any hunter needs, if he wants to shoot game, and not other hunters.
Private transfers? You cannot control registration and licensing without prohibiting them.
I didn't mention storage requirements - but those should be imposed, as well. The Brits do it without a problem.
I'm aware that a lot of gun folks subscribe to the "you'll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands" mantra. But I strongly suspect that, confronted with the actual choice, the vast majority of them would reconsider - if the alternative were to have those cold, dead hands in about 30 seconds.
The neo-fascists want us to fear them, to fear a "civil war" - because fear is all they've got; no logic, no sense of justice or morality. So, if a few of 'em want to try to start a war... well, cold, dead hands. Not the preferred outcome, but better than continued massacres of innocents.
