Hillary isn't very inspiring, but that also reflects the idea of Presidents as media mavens - Reagan nailed that, style over substance, but he was a professional actor (the Governator is another story). Bill and Obama are great public speakers, it really isn't fair to hold Hillary or most candidates to that standard.
However, after 40 years nothing has ever stuck to Hillary despite probably more money and manpower spent on investigating her than any politician other than her husband. Trump is about to find out what happens when you step into he spotlight and can no longer control the media.
Now Hillary's biggest flaw is her mediocrity, but I mean that in a nuanced way, she's a Yale Law graduate, and they're all bright, but most aren't as smart as they think they are (I've been taught by a few). So she's not as smart as she thinks she is, but could lap the Republican field (how Ted Cruz got into a top law school is beyond me, affirmative action?). It would be hard to find any presidential candidate with more experience.
Her biggest flaw is her Nixonian type paranoia (though they were really out to get her, and she doesn't have Nixon's psychosis or alcoholism), which tends to make her circle the wagon and rely on people who are more loyal than talented (George Jr had the same problem).
People really have strange illusions about what Presidents can and can't do, my favorite line is Truman about Ike:
“Poor Ike. He'll say do this and do that and nothing at all will happen.”
Presidents have very limited impact on the economy outside of regulation (mostly by administrative agencies in the executive branch that can be influenced but not controlled since their mandate is created by Congress), fiscal policy (which has to originate in the House no matter what the White House proposes), and trade deals (which have far less effect than critics proport).
Presidents have almost no impact on social issues and safety, because these are primarily either constitutional rights or determined by state and local governments (the FBI has a limited jurisdiction over criminal activity).
Presidents primarily have two major impacts, international relations including military action and appointing Supreme Court justices (and they still have to be approved by the Senate).
My ideal outcome is for Hillary to win by a landslide, and bring in a Democratic Congress dominated by moderates elected in formerly Republican states so we can end gridlock without the Democratic left having control of the agenda. Hillary, like Bill, talks left but governs center, both are primarily pragmatists who understand that "politics is the art of the possible."
