JP being a good teammate with the guy taking his job. His 5-year contract is up at the end of the year. Only hitting .210 but his OPS+ is 112 still because of the good OBP. The SS defense has fallen off and not sure teams will buy him as a 3B next year, but teams could probably do worse looking for a veteran supersub infielder type.

Sosa's LHB replacement? Only fits with Trea though, not Stott or (we hope) Miller.

Probably not the best fit for us though he might want to play with Justin. Miller would slot in for Bohm but we would still need a Sosa type.

They are only second cousins, not sure their fathers were even that close (20 year age gap and didn't leave near each other). But would still be cool for them I'm sure, and a cool story.

I suppose both Sosa and JP will be trying to get one last three-year deal to be paid like a starter or at least 500 AB guy.

I would imagine when they were thinking of giving him what should have been a routine start against a LHP tonight, they realized he would especially not be up to the task against Sanchez.

Sometimes the timing is just the timing. Or they thought it was actually going to be a nice thing to let him have one moment in Philly (which he did, albeit without playing). Cutting him just before the trip wouldn't have been much better.

Yeah...Garcia is doing better than Nick!

He's hitting .193, to Nick's .191.
His OPS is .572, to Nick's .560.
And he's better on defense, too.

Maybe it's just me, but if I'm going to have a right fielder producing a sub-.200 BA, and a sub-.600 OPS, I would much rather that right fielder was a youngster with at least a possible future, rather than an old guy whose career is basically over... whether that's Garcia, Castellanos, or any other such player.

Credit to San Diego for recognizing reality and getting rid of the dead wood. I just wish DD would do the same, today.
