My grandmother had a lot of siblings, more than I can keep track of. But they lived in Shamokin. My grandmother moved to Philly after (so the family story goes) being blacklisted from working in Shamokin after trying to organize the workers. I don't remember my mom talking about any uncles in Manayunk, but she did have a lot of them.
My great grandmother in Shamokin was named Koweleski; we don't know the correct spelling. It was spelled two different ways on my grandparents' marriage certificate. I'm going to go with Coveleski; Hall of Famer Stan Coveleski was from Shamokin, and I'm claiming to be a relative. If Poland had a WBC team, I'm sure they would have called me.
