Franco signed ages ago, he got a decent deal ($3 million plus incentives), just not what he would have gotten if anyone had wanted to trade for him. It resets his salary for one more year of arb too, which makes him more attractive (whether to KC or another team). He can certainly still be a useful player/trade bait. It's too bad, I really enjoyed that last great run he had in April, even if it was built on IBBs. Being in the AL will certainly help too.
At 32 I doubt Brown has one more run in him. He said he was making $20K a month in Mexico so AAA pay (and buses) probably not in the cards, even if it came with that slight chance at playing in the bigs again (or briefly).
