Brewers beat Mariners last night 22-0, MLB's most lopsided shutout since June 28, 1887 when the Phillies defeated the Indianapolis Hoosiers 24-0 in Indianapolis. That year, the Phillies played their first season at Philadelphia Base Ball Grounds, the ballpark which burned down in September of 1894 and was replaced in 1895 at the same location by Philadelphia Ball Park l/k/a National League Park a/k/a Baker Bowl--contrary to popular belief that the Phillies played at Baker Bowl from 1887 to mid-1938. And, it was never officially named Baker Bowl, a colloquial name which stuck. The below story is incorrect that the Phillies were called the Quakers back then. The Phillies had no nickname for their first three seasons (the were simply "the Philadelphia club") but commonly became known as the Phillies in 1886.
