I read that Anderson is almost at his innings limit. One assumes they are going to find a spot for Henderson Alvarez.

I think they probably hope to see Knapp again, especially since Mackanin has said he wants three catchers.

Appel and Valentin are not on the 60-day.

Crawford, Stassi and Perkins are locks to come up after the AAA season. Although Cozens is on the 40-man, I don't think he gets a call. I'd just as soon send him home, let him clear his head before some winter ball.

As far as pitchers, I think there's Thompson and a reliever or two. Beato comes back and 1 or 2 other guys. Maybe Mariot and/or Fien.

Stassi was a great story back in March but his 40 man roster spot could probably have better uses.

Yes, he's 27 and he's had an awful season -- both in Allentown and Philly. For a not-great-fielding 1B, a .682 OPS isn't even close to being good enough. He's had his opportunity and he wasn't able to take advantage of it. With the OFs coming back, Hoskins has more than earned the starting 1B job. There are other needs for the 40-man spot -- younger prospects we need to protect from the Rule 5. Stassi peaked in 2015. He had a good ST this season, but a bad season.

Like a lot of young players, Stassi struggled with a part-time role.
I think you saw the same thing with Perkins.
Which is why they're looking at Florimon, one of the best ways to ruin a young player is to put them in a role where they play once a week and PH, and lose their mechanics and never feel comfortable.
Whereas veteran players seem to be able to handle that situation better until they lose their bat speed (Blanco this year).

Does he even stay in the organization in 2018? Somebody will have to play first for the Pigs next season.

I guess that depends on what other offers he receives. He might well feel that the Phillies provide his best chance to drift back to the majors, since their OFs have suffered a lot of injuries and Hoskins has played OF.

If everyone didn't see it, Stassi was DFA'ed today to make room for Nicasio. So his 40-man spot is a non-issue, unless another team has one for him (in which case his future with the Phillies is also a non-issue. If he clears is he already a minor league free agent or do the Phillies have any control left?

Stassi and Perkins are both AAAA players. Each could easily be outrighted this winter. They are not as good as Cody Asche and we easily got rid of him.
