Philsmania...LOL, thanks for the comments. I am still very optimistic but if you remember, I was one of the big "if only we could get Middleton running the show" posters and he is now the head man in charge...and it seems that the organization still moves at a snails pace when compared to other big market/big money teams.
I am happy with the progress but do feel it could have been accelerated with a more aggressive stance, and there are many posters on this site who have very intelligently argued for the stance I am talking about. I keep waiting for that break through moment, that one moment that finally tells Phillie phans that things are completely different. One giant over 23 signing, one HUGE Latin American signing, one trade where we all say, "OMG!" The Hamels deal was like that but goodness gracious, that was two years and Amaro Era Time ago.
Look I am not talking about bringing in Darvish or Verlander, nothing like that. But there was a pitcher drafted by the Orioles who was very talented and recently became a free agent. The Giants, who scout well, signed him and I wish it could have been the Phillies. Things like that.
Heck, even the Neshek and Kendrick trade talks...all I hear from the Phillies is not to expect much in return and I tell myself "Epstein would NEVER say that, never." Klentak seems like a decent enough guy, but very vanilla to me.
I long for another Jim Bunning, Frank Thomas, Bake Mcbride, Dick Ruthven, Dick Allen, Garry Maddox, Jim Thome, Pete Rose, Steve Carlton, Cliff Lee [twice] and Hamels deal moment where I just say....we just made out like bandits. And I fear Klentak is not the man to bring this to fruition.
In short, I categorize myself now as the guy standing behind the guy in charge saying "do it, do it, do it" and Klentak then says, "well, you know we still have the August waiver wires and the Winter meetings and next July's trade deadline" and it just seems like "same message, different year."
I hope I am wrong, want to be, yearn to be. Lets see what happens.
