Good pitching all around for GCL Phillies, as 14 innings net the Yankees only 1 run on 4 hits.

Whenever I see a LA pitcher's name that I've never heard of pop up in a boxscore for the Phillies, I'm reminded of Butch Cassidy: "Who are those guys?"

Every year there's another couple guys who pop out of nowhere, when we find out they've jumped from 88-89 in the DSL and are now throwing 92-93 with a wicked slider/curve/changeup.

in the philly.com article about additional money to spend internationally, there is a small blurb at the end of the article that mentions Gowdy have elbow soreness. i didn't realize it was the elbow that was giving him a problem. that doesn't sound too good.

Yeah, but we've now done pretty much a full season of the rest cure. If he has surgery after winter rest doesn't do the trick, he's missed his first 3 seasons and season 4 is a comeback from injury transitional year and the whole Rule 5 decision rests on the single year 5, when he will still be deep in the lower minors. Even if he doesn't need surgery, and I suspect that will always be hovering on the horizon, he has lost 2 years, and that's assuming he's ready to go next ST.

Phils getting good pitching again at every level tonight, Viza looks like he's turned his season around, Howard and Seabold dealing, Mills, Llovera has only given up 1 hit so far.
Klentak seems to have developed the pitching depth he wanted, now let's find some more hitters!

Joey DeNato getting the start for LHV. I haven't seen a report but my guess would be the Phils decided to have Eflin scratched. They are now playing in a light rain after a long delay in Rochester.

wilkerson liendo is another one to watch. 17 year old, all season, and has 18 innings pitched with 32 K's. 6'3" with room to grow. look out. Sal is at it again.
