I bumped into a guy in the checkout line yesterday who's son works for the Blueclaws, we were taking and he mentioned that Moniak jammed a finger the other day and that's why he was out.
For what its worth, Lakewood is #1 in the South Atlantic League in pitching staff ERA and Clearwater is a very close second in the Florida State League (2.20 to 2.22).
I'm hoping Kilome puts it all together this year and can reach Reading by the end of the year. I think his stuff is nasty if he can learn how to control it.
FWIW it does look like Austin Davis has had a velocity bump. Matt Winkelman tweeted that he hit 98 last night on his final pitch. He was a 12th round pick so even though it has taken him 4 seasons as a college player to establish himself in Clearwater, there might be something there.
Davis is a big boy, 6'4 245, missed a year of college, came out as a junior in 2014.24 years old, but a RP who puts it together can rise rapidly, has had some injury woes.
