I'm all for trading for allocations IF the price is right.
We don't know what the allocation market will look like, the previous trades seem mostly by teams over the limit willing to trade for allocations because they had double the value (due to the reduction in the financial penalty for overspending), and the sellers faced a market where most of the better prospects had already been purchased. Selling those allocations cheaply didn't impact the market for prospects.
In the new world, allocations may be more expensive (at least when they have value, in July) because prospects may be "cheaper" so money has more value.
And many teams with allocations who can't spend more than $300K may not want to trade them unless they get real value (because they want to reduce the money chasing the prospects they can sign - why should I "give away" money to my competitors?).
So I wouldn't assume allocations will be free money - and if they require real prospects to buy, you have to trade off between the older, more certain prospects you trade v the 16 year olds you can sign on the margin (this money won't help you sign the best prospects, who will be locked up before you obtain allocations, rather, it will allow you to sign addtional prospects).
