Man, this after they cut ties with a guy they committed $4 million to in 2027. I get the sense that Preller’s Padres have been a big driver in a system that commits to 12-13 year olds. Maybe they have a better idea about who they feel is really 12 vs who is really 14.

I still don't entirely understand what organization suspended him, and for what exactly. Like if this is all unofficial and technically against the rules until January 15 arrives was there even paperwork for him to lie on yet? And is it even a punishment if he can still sign in the '26 period anyway, just not immediately? Wouldn't a bigger punishment be to just make him take whatever scraps are left in the current/correct class?

It would make more sense to me if the Padres were the ones doing wrong here, i.e. they may have known and then lost the ability to sign him, which is certainly something we've seen in the past too.
