Big time and much needed win.

I am a bit disappointed they didn't win the first one now that they've won this one. But the reality is it doesn't matter that much. These aren't actually double-counting games (since the East race is over) and the teams chasing the Phillies have their own flaws. And while we may think this is a playoff preview, October's a blank slate regardless.

Certainly good to get the win in game 2 and the split of the pair today.

Bullpen comes through with 4 innings, 2 hits, one run (the home run given up by Soto) and no walks.

Lorenzen with the win (9-9) and Kimbrel the save (23).

Hope Springs, I stayed out all game. Didn't watch a play. Then I went through the posts. Can't believe it. Glad I held out. Casty got a hit, so did Marsh. Wow!! Hope does spring Eternal.

I mentioned that Lorenzen had thrown 90 pitches in five innings and speculated that he might be done for the night. He came out and faced Olson, giving up a home run for the second time in the game, and then Hoffman came in. It is always a debatable decision on when to change pitchers. I would have made the change to start the inning, but had Lorenzen gotten 3 quick outs, I would have been wrong.

A split if fine. Offense good in both games. Pitching, some good, some not.
