A real fun game to watch. Great national exposure on ESPN as well, although for me, I'd prefer to watch our familiar TV crew.
Outstanding pitching! Duran with another no-nonsense save but as great as he was, Sanchez was great over the first 8 innings. Another shutout of a very good team. Even some pitches that were strikes being called balls didn't upset Sanchez.
DD did a great job getting Duran, arguably the best closer available, and one of the few with two more years of control. If this Detroit series is any indication of his time with the Phillies, we are going to love it.
I is easy to be critical of the offense today, but the Detroit starter is a tough pitcher and it seemed to me that multiple balls put in play by the Phillies today resulted in outs because of great defensive plays.
Phillies take two of three from Detroit. Orioles up next. They need another series win and a sweep would be really nice.
