Listen, I get the frustration, and the sense that the team is not enjoyable to watch. And I'm by no means super-impressed by Dombrowski, who (like Gillick before him) inherited much of this core, including the best of them besides Schwarber and Luzardo (and Duran).
But I don't think I'd trade our team, its success over the past five years, or our front office for anyone other than the Dodgers and maybe the Rays. And the Braves, certainly, but we wouldn't have been any happier these past five years (and probably would have hated an Anthopolous hire back then). Yankees, Red Sox, Padres, Giants, Blue Jays, Nats, Astros, Rangers? Nope.
This is especially true because we've also seen a ton of front office talent from Milwaukee, Tampa, and Houston go on to other teams and do nothing or worse. Lucky for us, since that group includes the Mets.
And the same goes for most team's roster. There aren't vastly superior OFs, catchers or guys who can hit while playing great in the field all over the league. Which is part of the reason why we never traded Bohm or replaced Castellanos.
The farm absolutely has to provide more in the coming years, but I'm not sure it's been as bad as we think when you consider how early it actually still is in DD's time running things (Painter and Crawford were actually his first two first-rounders), how bad it was under Klentak (no better than Amaro) but also, how much they actually were able to leverage it for trades. The problem with the latter, of course, is that it hasn't paid off. But then, it didn't from 2009-2011 either.
It would be unfortunate if the flaw that does kill the team is still all the LHBs. That's the only issue with Arraez. I don't think it matters where he hits, but can't bat consecutively with Harper and Schwarber, which leaves either Turner or Bohm still having to be more than they are (even if Bohm has done just that lately).
