Whoda thought when the Mets were 11-1 and the Nats were the favorites they'd be playing spoiler to the Phils by August?
Two quick outs and then the bunt opens up the less than stellar play in the field. Looked like the double bounced on the track and wasn't that far from Quinn. I couldn't tell on TV, but was that a play that could have been made. Then the ball gets by Alfaro to move runner to third on wild pitch. Eflin got the K to end the inning and hold it to one run, but wouldn't it have been nice to not let the Nationals come back and score one in the first?

Sometimes the shift works fine.
I trust the Phillies analytics crew are constantly updating data and evaluation the shifts they are using. There are going to be hits because of the shift so they have to determine if the shift is producing a net benefit or not. Probably more important, they can refine the use of various shifts as they see more and more data on each hitter they will face.
Difo hitting .330 vs Phils, .240 overall

The usual two out hiccup for Eflin. He gets the third out without damage but it adds a few more pitches to his count for the game.
I hope to see some offense coming up this inning for the Phillies.

So remind me again, why we don't start Bour against every right handed pitcher.
Nice smooth swing and over the centerfield fence.
Home run #20 for the season for Bour.
