Pivetta v DeGrom is a thrower v a pitcher, similar velocity, both have relatively straight FBs, but DeGrom has better command and a full complement of secondary pitches, Pivetta was getting his pitches belt high and the Mets felt like it was batting practice.
This is the problem with a young pitching staff, it takes a few years to progress from "thrower" to "pitcher," smoothing mechanics, improving consistency, upgrading secondary pitches. You can either get frustrated, or be optimistic that they're so effective this early on the learning curve.
