The replay goes their way!
Hoskins
Hit by pitch (80.7 mph curveball)
Rhys Hoskins hit by pitch.
Unlike Herrera the other day, Hoskins doesn't swing when hit on the back foot.
Santana, C
Ball (93.7 mph sinker)Ball (93.7 mph sinker)In play, out(s) (93.6 mph sinker)
Carlos Santana lines out to center fielder Austin Jackson.
New York Mets
Philadelphia Phillies
Phillies are looking much better and are on pace to put up 20 of their own. I doubt it will happen, but if it does and the teams exchanges 20s on each other, Jayson Stark will probably be able to wring 7,500 words out of it.
For those not watching, on the stolen bases, the Mets had Williams hung up between first and second. During the run down, Hernandez went home and beat the throw. Williams then proceeded to second base.
No tag by catcher, did Cesar touch home?
Hoskins doesnāt do a lot of things Herrera does (except misplay flyballs), which is probably a good thing. As much as I like Odubel, I never know what heās thinking out there (or if heās thinking at all).
McNeil
Ball (77.0 mph curveball)Foul (93.4 mph four-seam fastball)In play, out(s) (83.1 mph slider)
Jeff McNeil grounds out sharply, shortstop Scott Kingery to first baseman Carlos Santana.
Replay said he did. Looked like his finger just grazed the plate.
Stark already has a lot of words about game 1, but Iām so old that I remember that when the Phils scored 26 runs against the Mets they faced only pitchers, not 3 innings of position players so it was more of a feat.
