A struggling pitcher versus a washed-up pitcher. Remarkably similar stat lines for both.
Some perspective: Verlander's rookie season took place in the year that Ryan Howard was the NL MVP and when Bobby Abreu, Mike Lieberthal and Randy Wolf were all still Phillies, the year before the Phillies began their run of NL East titles with the Rollins-Utley-Howard-Hamels-Victorino-Ruiz core.
Verlander's obviously a HOFer, probably even a first-ballot guy. Question is does he go in with a Detroit or Houston cap?
