Not great, but a quality start from Wheeler, and the two innings from Hoffman made it possible to win this game. JT with his second hit followed by a solid double from Bohm made it closer. Of course, the two out, pinch hit, home run gave the Phillies the lead. Outstanding contribution from Pache. Kimbrel nailed the save.

Just watched the last inning.

I know there are some people that don't like Kruk as an announcer (I have no idea why), I loved the guy as a player and an announcer. I can't think of anyone whose emotions are more "real" than him calling a game. He really enjoys these come backs. He is a true "homer" but it is for my team, so it is good.

If he were to continue to do color commentary for say 25-30 years total, I wonder if the combination of being a good but not HOF player and announcer could sneak him into the hall someday. Probably a long shot since he is somewhat part time as an announcer.

I think he probably lies solidly in the Hall of Very Good.

I think Kruk is ok. Agreed, he is a homer, and shows real emotion. Both things also true of Chris Wheeler. But I don't think being the voice of a fan as well as comic relief is Hall of Fame announcer material. He's not quite Bob Uecker (and also his playing career won't be considered). I prefer Amaro's actual insights (and he can also be more critical). Davis I don't care for.

The Mets TV team to me is the best one. Cohen is a great PBP guy, Darling is super-smart (and knows it) and Hernandez is the Kruk of the team, but just at a higher level in both knowledge and presentation.

Frantzke is the guy who should ultimately pass into Phillies legend but obviously being the radio announcer and never doing TV makes him a lot less prominent to the average casual fan.

I like Kruk, too.

As I understand it, broadcasters are not really members of the Hall of Fame but rather winners of an award specifically for broadcasters. So their playing careers aren’t considered. Some of the other honorees also had decent playing careers (McCarver comes to mind).
