Yesterday I was ready to trade Abel for a controllable high-end reliever, but not today. Yeah, you can get another Robertson or Estevez for the lower price (but still more than second level, just not Top Four). No reliever you get will be a sure thing.
As inconsistent as Romano and Kerkering have been, it's the loss of Alvarado that is killing them, though perhaps had he not cheated he wouldn't have been any better than he was last year.
Rob managed to win when it was 3-2 in the 5th but not when it was 5-4 in the 7th, and that's okay. Last year they had to punt on Brogdon, Seranthoy and Soto. This year it's been Ruiz, and Hernandez just hasn't been good even at the bottom of the pen. Ross hasn't been bad but has been repeatedly put in a bigger role than he should be. They need two guys, but one might still come from the rotation if they don't lose Nola for the year.
