A solid and important win tonight in LA. The Phillies stop the losing streak at two and bounce back strongly from the disappointing loss in the opening game of the Dodger series.
Arrieta gives them another outstanding start going 7 scoreless innings. After a miserable performance from Neris in the 8th (faced 4 batters, gave up a double and two singles) where he got one strikeout, Hunter and Ramos came on to retire 5 in a row.
Offense again got the 4-0 lead and added a pair in the top of the ninth to give Ramos a little more cushion and also take away his opportunity to earn a save.
Hernandez had a good night going 2 for 2 with 3 walks. Alfaro had a pair of doubles and Franco went 2 for 4 after replacing Florimon early in the game. But perhaps the most important hit of the night was the pinch hit double from Hoskins to start the top of the 9th. I hope this pinch hit will be the first of many in the coming games. A productive Hoskins is just what the team needs to remain competitive.
