Really a nice bounce back after coming up just short last night. Just a shame Nola does not get the win, but it is a team game and Nola gave them an outstanding start again today. Kudos to the bullpen for finishing it out.

Got to love Williams as a pinch hitter. He is now 11 for 22 in his career pinch hitting. Phillies win on the two home runs, Franco and Williams, behind great pitching.

Back to 9 games over .500 with record now 29-20.

Saw somewhere that Russel Martin applauded for Aaron Nola as he was taken out of the game. Can anyone confirm?

Crazy thing was this really wasn't a good outing by Nola.
Lacked command of his FB and his two seamer didn't have its usual break.
Changeups were low out of the K zone for the most part.
Somehow he hung in there and almost went 7.

Seranthony is going to be the closer by year's end, he just has that feel of "cool," but Kapler is easing him in.
Garcia's stuff has improved in his 30s, 97-99 and he's developed a nice break on his FB, but you can see that he was over pitching and struggling with command to start.

I think Kapler's going to stick with the current approach. Nobody has to be the closer, Dominguez is being trusted with the toughest outs but they also like that he can get more than three (and pitch with men on base). Who goes out for the 9th these days seems to be entirely about match-ups.
