Standard production is an upgrade over what Castellanos/Garcia have given us the last couple of years. I would be happy with that.
People argue against Trout all the time. I won't. Diminishing skills???? His average OPS+ over the past few years is like 130 to 140+. Diminished versus his peak? Yeah, but he could diminish another 20% over the next 4 years and still be much better than league average. DH????? He played DH last season because of a bone bruise - was a way to get him back into the lineup quicker. Back to playing CF this year, just like he has done his whole career. How hard is it to play LF??????
Yup, he's going to get injured, just like every other player his age. But he only has four years left on his contract. We have spent the last 3 years running Castellanos/Garcia out there.
If you get two+ years of production out of him, we are waaaaaay ahead of the game we've been playing since we signed Nick. Way ahead. This is a friggin no-brainer and it has been for a while. Last year he played 130 games and had 124+ and we have guys on here, sh$tting on that.
He has approximately $150M left on his contract. Is someone going to tell me that he is not a good bet to get 10 WAR over the course of it? Because that will probably be the going rate at the end of his contract.
