Well I put the emoji there because A) I still think it balances out in the end and B) teams that get a lot of blowouts are still actually proving their mettle.
It's a meaningless stat, sure, because it's meant to be predictive but still can't always be. And you don't get any trophies for it either way. But right now the Phillies are actually (slightly) outperforming their RD, which comes from the close games not the blowouts. And the Braves' record matches their RD too.
To me this team's blowouts have shown a lot. It has become an elite offense even with one guy missing, one guy MIA and one guy being the CF who can't hit. There's some BABIP and RISP luck there but sometimes your luck doesn't run out, and the fundamentals (walks, SLG) are still strong. It will regress some against better teams I'm sure, as will the pitching.
