How does a mediocre left-handed relief pitcher give up 4 runs in an inning and then get sent out to start the next inning by his manager? We are not going to fire him for that, but I'd be making a list of stuff like that. I know we need to add a second LHP to the bullpen, but sometimes a pitcher just does not have it and you need to try to win a game in the 5th or 6th inning rather than let it get out of hand.

I didn't watch the game but it seems like Mackanin made the right decision to hook Pivetta. Just didn't have the right replacement. Then it seems like he waved the white flag.

I'm not sure this is Pete's fault. The starters aren't going deep so he has to use the 'pen. The 'pen has been pretty bad. So, weak SP + bad pen + mediocre offense = bad team.

Who is the best active manager in MLB? How many wins more then Mackanin do you think he's worth?

When I compare the 2016 pitching staff to the 2017 staff, it's mostly the same guys. And I can't think of one...not even one...who is improved from last year. To me, the pitching coach has to bear the responsibility for that. Bob McClure can't be brought back as pitching coach next year. Just can't happen.

Leaving Rodriguez in when he was getting hit hard was completely Pete's fault. The second inning is completely on the manager.

Which is why he made the cowardly choice to throw the catchers under the bus. TPTB let him get away with that. It says a lot.
