Best game Franco had all year, not just the slam, but hit three balls up the middle and the out to LF was a shot.
All he has to do is keep his hands back and not attack the ball, just stay under control and let his talent take over.
Galvis opens up his stance the last few games, looks bad, has a single and HR - I give up, he's attending the Herrera school of hitting these days!
Saunders finally showed the power they signed him for.
Velasquez is going to frustrate all season, he's learning how to pitch, his slider and changeup look awesome at times and meh at other times, his 4 seam is power, but he's still working on a 2 seamer that can move and sink. 95 MPH isn't enough anymore, you need 3-4 pitches and good location, the FB should set up your other pitches. It may take a year or two but eventually he'll get a repertoire together where he can use that FB to get ahead, then bury hitters with a change or slider. It's easy to forget, like Joseph, how much time he's lost to injuries.
Somehow, with a bullpen in disarray, Buchholtz pitching awful until he was hurt, Franco, Saunders, Joseph and Rupp struggling to stay above the Mendoza line, they're 10-9, and that with 12 games against the Nats and Mets. At some point you have to start believing this team is for real, b/c they can play a lot better.
The starting staff is finally set, and while there's no closer, there are plenty of live arms in the pen, and I'm watching Murray in Lehigh.
The hitting has been solid, but it can get better if the big bats in the middle of the order get hot as the weather gets warmer.
