Inspired by great weather, made spontaneous trip to the ballpark tonight. Painter was sometimes good, sometimes very good.. Not only do Turner and Harper and Realmuto all share similar stat lines to this point, they all look flat out awful at the plate. Glad to get the win though!

Looking at box scores tonight, I noticed that Harper and Castellanos have the same batting average (.100).

The 50-50 chance of Painter being sent down when Wheeler comes back has certainly changed. Though we still should root for Walker to do well even if he eventually goes to a long reliever role.

Well, as someone already joked, it was an Abel-like start (at least results-wise if not stuff-wise). So you never know. But they certainly never wanted Walker to beat him out.

Nationals had another lucky hit in the top of the 1st, swinging bunt-ish slow roller. "Uncanny" said Franzke about how many hits they have in the series with very low exit velocities. The other weak contacts were outs.

Nats turn the infield single and 2 walks, and a throw to 1st on a strikeout, into a run, JT couldn't find the ball for a bit on the strikeout that was out #2, then tried to get the runner at 1st and while that happened the runner at 3rd scored. Nats still haven't hit the ball out of the infield.

Marsh with a 2 out single up the middle in the bottom of the 2nd. JT HBP moves him to 2nd. Crawford high chop infield single loads the bases. Turner lines one to center, Young makes a sliding grab running in in center to end the threat.

Sanchez gets a K then issues his 3rd walk to put 2 on with 2 out. Then a mile high popup. Got a little nervous seeing the sun glare off Turner's shade, but he actually saw it and caught it. 1-1, mid 3rd.
