18 pitch inning for Nola. Not ideal but not terrible against the top of the order.
Harper Ks on three pitches.
Where’s Joe Buck and McCarthy?
Castellanos pops up to shallow right. 2 up 2 down
Bohm fouls some pitches, then grounds out 1-3. 6 up, 6 down for Verlander.
No score, mid 2nd.
Don't want to see Verlander getting into a rhythm but Phils are aggressive at the plate as usual
Tucker homers to right, 1-0 Astros.
Well he put his money where his mouth was. Complete with bat flip
Gurriel 1st pitch single to center, 1 on, none out.
Cant have Nola going soft now
Mancini chases and Ks, 1 down.
McCormick singles to right, Gurriel to 3rd. Jammed but fought it off, soft liner into no man's land. 1st and 3rd, 1 out.
Last two Astros hits have been perfect pitches that were jam jobs. Not anything about Nola being soft.
Maldonado singles through the vacated 2nd base side, as runner was going. It's 2-0 Astros, 1st and 3rd, one out.
Altuve hits into a 6-4-3 DP, end 2, 2-0 Them.
Jam job, jam job, hundred-hopper. Bad luck.
Too man fat pitches that inning but a nice double play ball to get out of the inning. Need the bats to get going.
The home run was a mistake but after that a lot of weak/well placed contact. Frustrating to let them get the second run but it could have been worse. The other issue is Nola has thrown 37 pitches already and the Astros are gonna keep making him work.
Certainly does suck, need Nola to shake it off as we need him this game, don't want to deplete the pen right out of the gate
