I told you the run would happen in the 40s. In most of my mocks I was trading back into the mid 30s to start it, but none of my mocks had Lemon available in a position to trade up for, so I’m happy the way it worked out.

No more players I “love” left. A couple like Jacas and K. Scott, Pregnon would be happy with but not ecstatic. Stowers and EMW represent some value/talent but maybe not perfect fits so I would be conflicted.

We’re firmly in the “muddle” now where I don’t think there is a huge talent gap for the next 50 or so. Just scheme fits. Kinda hoping we trade down.

Chuck - I would rather have Barham than any guy left on your list. By far. Trade back and get him around 80.

They just put the Jets draft so far. Four picks in the top 50, so all the pundits will be drooling over what they did.

I look at those picks and it tells me exactly why they are the Jets. Terrible haul when you have that kind of capital.

Stowers. Talented, but not the kind of TE that we’ve looked at before. Probably even more of a signal of the change in offensive philosophy that’s here. See ya, Grant C, nice to know ya.

Is 1000x better than picking Sadiq in the first round. No idea who will be better.

Eagles addressing their weapons for Hurts early and often. We are going to throw the ball an awful lot, in rhythm and using the center of the field. That’s what ownership has wanted to do and that’s the offense they just brought in. Hope Hurts is on board with this.

I like Hurts and think he’s capable, so no shot at his ability. He’s one of the best QBs in the NFL. But there have been rumblings that Hurts resisted this before and the Eagles relented. Looks like that won’t happen again.

He is a pass catching TE and if you want a Goedert type who is a good blocker that aids the run game, you’re not getting it in him.

But like I said, it looks like there is a new game in town for the O in 2026. Don’t expect a rerun of the 2024 Barkley year.

Eagles aren’t scheduled to pick again until late in the 5th round. I was hoping they would have drafted S AJ Haulcy with that last pick but Bell can probably replace Steen at guard (think Becton), and the slide out to tackle when Lane retires.

Yes, 68 was high, but I can’t complain much about it because he may not have been there for you if you trade back and try to get cute if he’s the guy you really want. Early 3rd instead of late 3rd is a lot better than drafting a WR in the 3rd that was projected to go in the 7th like the Dolphins just did or the two 2nd round TEs that probably were 5th rounders. Or for you nostalgic guys, drafting a 4th round DE from Virginia with no production with your first round pick.

6’9”, 350. 37” arms. If you’re going to roll dice, this are good numbers to roll.

He would be one of those guys I mentioned to Chuck that may be a good player, but does not fit what the Eagles (Fangio) want at all. Better off where he was drafted for all parties.

Eagles operate in shell split safety, but frequently rotate late into single highs and demand a lot of flexibility from their safeties. I don’t see him as that kind of guy. You don’t necessarily need to be a burner, but you’ve got to be able to flip your hips for Fangio. Haulcy is going to be a guy who thrives in a standard shell split safety concept. Good speed, size, ball skills when he can see what’sin front of him, but probably too stiff for our scheme.

We are at 90 and McCoy still in the board. Kiper said something to the effect that teams had concerns that the knee will limit the length of his career even if he comes all the way back. Sounds like there may be some chronic issue or permanent damage brought to light by the injury. Life is fickle as a football player. You’re always one play away from a career altering incident.

Chris Bell is a bit more under the radar but also probably a first round talent if not for the November ACL tear. I hadn’t heard anything more than a straightforward injury with the expectation of recovery, but still highlights how risky it is to take chances on stuff like this. Yeah, you can come back to full health, but the game is so physical and losing even a fifth of a step can result in a big difference for guys who don’t have the ability to compensate in other ways.

I would expect these guys go fairly soon, but teams have recognized the full value of mid round picks now as opposed to just a decade ago, so many may be reluctant to take a gamble in the top 100 or so. It seems tempting but anecdotally it seems that these gambles rarely work out. I’m sure the statistics back that up as well because the way teams are acting now.

And like clockwork, Bell goes at 94 to the Dolphins. Even with his injury, he should be able to run circles around theirthe 2nd round WR pick. SMH on that one.

He can’t block, at least he can’t yet. Weird that Howie said a month or so ago he had to focus on Tight Ends who could block as well as receive, and then drafted one of the worst blockers on the list, admittedly one of the highest ceiling receivers/athletes.

Bell isn’t sliding into guard any time soon. His lower body is underdeveloped and he’d get murdered by big 3-tech DTs. Bell is a red-shirt tackle project who is going to spend lots of time in the weight room. I would have preferred the best fitting safety at that pick, or BPA O-lineman that isn’t a redshirt, who was probably Tiernan, Barber, or Pregnon. Or a good CB. Got to hope the Eagles know something about Bell that the public scouting hasn’t discussed. He is an unusual Roseman pick, he was quite a bit lower on the consensus board than where Howie took him. Howie almost always picks guys who are ranked higher than the pick he’s making.

Eagles got a 2026 7th round pick in the Greenard trade, too (#244).

This. 68 was higher than expected for Bell, but if you see my post pre Day 2, I said 80. You can try and get cute and pick up some extra capital, but all it takes is one team to be in love with him and you wind up with egg on your face.

Howies press conference made it clear that he was their guy because of his unique physical traits.

Chuck - agreed, this guy isn’t moving inside, he’s a redshirt and develop to see if he can take over from Lane.

I also think people may have to move off of the Becton reclamation thing for the Eagles moving forward. Not sure the are going to be prioritizing the physical, explosive engagement, road graders that excel in duo blocking concepts moving forward. I think lateral movement, pass protection skills will be more valuable for the offensive scheme it seems they want to implement.

Allar at 6’5” 230 with the arm talent he possesses and decent enough mobility was primed for a team to take a chance that his processing skill deficiencies were a situation where they could coach the Franklin out of him.

It remains to be seen if they can, but not surprised that someone bet on him that high because the reward is very, very high even if the probability is low.

I think most evaluators are looking at him and saying, “wow, he’s got some physical traits but, aaagghh, he’s a mess above the shoulders and below the waist in the pocket. Way too much has to happen for him to make it.” But there are 32 teams and probably a couple of them are willing to take the gamble that exposure to high level coaching may fix that. By all accounts, he’s a hard worker.
