Heck if they could move off Didi I don't think Stott matters, you could also put Camargo or Maton there, or bring back Torreyes, or find a $2 million guy to put there, or sign Story for that matter. None of those things are ideal (including Stott) for a team trying to win its division, but I don't know that the Phillies even have to consider any of them for the price a team would want to pay for Didi, which is to say, nothing, and Phillies pick up more like 2/3 of his salary - at least for teams like the Reds or Pirates.
And the manager wants (and overvalues) him to boot.
The best play is probably to put him out there and hope he has value at the deadline, which either gets you a little salary relief or a couple of players then.
