Will Smith is the best player in the first round so far. Bryan Reynolds (that pick #59(, Pete Alonso, and Bo Bichette were all pretty good 2nd round picks.
Clearly a pretty bad draft in hindsight. Lots of HS picks in the first round that still have some time to improve like Moniak. Even Riley Pint is showing some signs of life. Jay Groome, the NJ pitcher we were often linked to is actually pitching pretty well now (AA and now AAA) and was just traded to the Padres. It would be ironic if he turned out to be the best number one pick. Among high picks Senzel has really stalled. Injuries may have robbed him of some athleticism. Anderson is still a pretty good bet to recover and be a good pitcher long term, though we are probably talking a 10-20 WAR career rather than something better.
